Start or Join a Local Personal Brilliance Team
What is a Local Personal Brilliance Team?
Wouldn’t it be great to have an opportunity to meet with a small group of people who are just as eager to integrate Personal Brilliance into their lives? Using MyPersonalBrilliance.com as a central location, we’ve created a way for people to find each other. The goal is to offer members of this community access to free, in-person meetings that provide mutual positive support on the journey.
Get together with neighbors, co-workers or simply like-minded people in your area.
We highly recommend you join the Personal Brilliance online community. Take the Personal Brilliance Quotient and if you haven’t already, pick up a copy of Personal Brilliance.
Next you can use our online database to join or create a new Local Personal Brilliance Team. Your group may have a special theme based on its members – just for men, just for women, parents, business managers, or within companies, specific departments. It’s up to you.
The buzz for Personal Brilliance started with the release of the book in the fall of 2005 so you may not yet find an existing group in your area or to your liking. Don’t wait. Take initiative. Start your own. It’s easy. Use the power of community to your advantage.

Dear Jane,
I received your information request regarding the Local Personal Brilliance Team via the Jim Canterucci website. We are in the process of forming a new group that will be using "Personal Brilliance" as a format for discussion. Overall, the group is intended to provide a positive forum where members support one another in defining and taking action steps towards their goals. Our first meeting is Monday, April 12 from 7-9 pm at Mary's house, 1234 Broadway, please let me know if you need directions.
After the initial meeting, the group will decide on a regular schedule that works for everyone. If you have any questions or would like additional information, please don't hesitate to contact me via e-mail or by calling (555) 555-5555.
Kind regards,
Susie

Dear Kathy
Great to hear from you. We're a group of women who meet every two weeks at a member's home and we're working on Jim Canterucci’s book Personal Brilliance. The chapters are fairly independent so you can join in at any time! Our next meeting is Saturday April 17 from 2-4 pm at the Barnes & Noble on North Street. Please let me know if you'd like to join us or if you have any other questions.
Hope to hear from you soon,
Jennifer

Hi Bob,
I received your information request from the Jim Canterucci site. This is the first time that I've done this ... made contact with someone from the site. I don't have a group yet, but I'd like to work through "Personal Brilliance" over the next year. I think that it would be easier working with another person (or more). Let's arrange to meet somewhere so we can discuss how we'd like to proceed.
Look forward to hearing back from you,
John
A Successful Local Personal Brilliance Team
Members who take their participation seriously and do what it takes to get their needs met have the most success. Your group may consist of members that have something in common. Others prefer a more diverse group. Optimum team size is probably between 6-8 members. But, you can grow your group to that size over time. Two people can form a team.
Since a sense of community and sharing support is the goal and continued action is critical to success your group should meet regularly. Weekly is best or every other week is a good alternative. Commitment is the key to success. You should schedule meetings approximately three months in advance and ask members for a commitment to these dates. This makes planning easier and allows team members to schedule the meetings into their regular schedule.
Some tips to sustain your Local Personal Brilliance Team:
Commit to confidentiality – Since we are dealing with personal growth everything said at a Local Personal Brilliance Team meeting should be kept strictly confidential. Members must be comfortable that as they open up to the group it will not harm them in any way.
Don’t be critical – All feedback should be couched in the positive, offering alternatives. Allow members to seek advice without assuming they want your advice.
Focus on the positive – Look for and acknowledge team members strengths and progress. Keep complaining to a minimum limited only to problem solving. A good rule of thumb is to keep the stating of the problem to 5% and spend 95% of the time on discussing solutions. Remember, Personal Brilliance is about solving problems. In some cases individual discussions outside of the group are necessary for additional support and clarification.
Equal time – Be sure that everyone has a chance to speak and participate. It’s ok to interrupt each other if all agree but be sure to circle back to someone who may have more to say on a topic. Since we are focused on taking action you can use the allocation of time as part of the process.
Check in regularly – Be careful to check in with the group regularly to review the process and make sure everyone is comfortable. State positions and feelings honestly with the team, being careful not to ignore lingering issues.
Suggested Agenda
• Welcome and housekeeping
• Review group guidelines and ground rules for any new members
• Spend 10 minutes for each team member to discuss what they have done differently since the last meeting. This includes exercise and homework they performed and results they have recorded in their Personal Brilliance Notebooks.
• Spend approximately 20 minutes for each member to discuss an issue or problem, and asking the group to provide input on how to approach the problem. Make commitments to what you will try before the next meeting.
• Close the meeting, reiterating the next scheduled meeting.
